Intentions
McEwan's first chapter in "How to Deal With Teachers" talks a lot about intention vs. perceptions, or, more specifically, how people receive you, your words, and your actions. This concept is one I've actively dealt with for the past two years. I hope to one day be at a point where these two notions align.

Great insight. I think we are all working toward that in the interest of personal integrity and authenticity. Thanks for reminding us that we own a part of the way in which we are perceived.
ReplyDeletei enjoyed that your reflection addresses the fact that we are all given the opportuntiy to model what leadership can be. Developing the ability to self regulate and allign your intentions with your actions can deeply impact perceptions.
ReplyDeleteWe all have to remember that we must work in the best interest of students. No one wants to look bad by removing an incompetent teacher. However, who looks bad when the incompetent teacher is not removed? Most importantly, how many students miss a full year of education due to incompetent teaching? We must work in the best interest of the students.
